Brief
Concept game design for a mixed reality experience based on the movie “It Follows”
Work Flow
Narrative: Level design, user experience, world building research/documentation
Tools: Paper prototyping, Excel
Summary
Research: Documentation of the It Follows world and existing game-mechanics.
Narrative design: Extending game mechanics for mixed reality and consideration of user experience in a physical environment.
Prototype 1: Created a spreadsheet to model basic game mechanics including walking speed, locations and player choices.
Prototype 2: Reviewed building and house layouts for ingress/egress and safety zones.
Prototype 3: Utilised hexagonal graph paper to test different game mechanics including safety zones, directions, ingress/egress points and gated player information. These were iterated through several rounds of play testing.
Prototype 4: Mock ups of potential user interface designs
